Is there space for me here?
Sometimes I wonder

I’m curious. Do you sometimes hold yourself back from trying a new business idea or venture because you think the market is crowded? Or even worse, feel that in some way you aren’t good enough to put yourself out there?
With some self-reflection lately, I’m wondering if I do this. I have so many ideas for e-books and courses, yet I question the value I have to bring to the table.
Why would anyone take my course when there are so many out there? How in the world could my e-book be any better than what’s available?
“There is no such thing as a new idea. It is impossible. We simply take a lot of old ideas and put them into a sort of mental kaleidoscope. We give them a turn and they make new and curious combinations. We keep on turning and making new combinations indefinitely; but they are the same old pieces of colored glass that have been in use through all the ages.” — Mark Twain
I love this quote. The reality is that my ideas might not be new, but I can package them in a different and exciting way.
And as a former K-12 teacher, I know that sometimes just explaining something in a slightly different way will cause that lightbulb moment in a student.
So it IS possible to set yourself apart from the pack.
And I am good enough to make it happen!
I have the knowledge, the skills, and the determination.
So what’s holding me back?
FEAR.
This silly little word has a hold on my mind sometimes.
I’m working on letting it go. Because in order to succeed, there must be failure. Not everything will go smoothly and perfectly. I might launch a course with typos or technology issues. Or, people might not find it valuable.
But, you know what? If I never launch, I can never improve. I can never get better and grow.
So, I make this pledge now. I’m going to set a goal for myself:
By August 1, 2022, I will launch one course and two e-books.
This is possible. I already have the drafts. And if there’s no space for me in the market, I’m going to make some for myself. Watch me.
