If you’re like me, then trailers 1 and 2 for The Matrix Resurrections got you hyped and souped-up on goosebumps and yelling, “This movie is going to be so good!”
So if you have not seen it yet, I will try and be kind enough to not give huge spoilers. In fact, look away from this article if you have not seen it, but if you want a general idea of what you will expect– read on.
A YouTuber called it a “soft reboot” and I see why. When you look at the trailer, doesn’t it seem as if we’ve experienced this before?
While watching with my family, I began to get the distinct feeling I was watching John Wick having an episode of a blue bill overdose- and as exciting as that was, I also felt like “Dang, I’ve seen this before! They’re just older!”
If you are okay with this, then you’re good to go. Honestly, it didn’t matter TOO much to me because the acting, the style, and overall “Matrixy” feel was awesome.
Again, if you’ve seen the trailer then you know that there are some pretty amazing actors in here. I am familiar with a couple of them, the others I’ll have to watch more of their work when I get a chance, but they did so well in my opinion.
Now, for the Morpheus part. Is this his son? A younger version of himself? Is the girl with the amazing blue haircut the new Trinity/Morpheus?
I can’t tell you.
What I can say is that Ms. Blue Hair is NOT Trinity.
Neil Patrick Harris did great in here by the way.
If you’re okay with this, then you are good to go.
I’m sorry, but like most of you, I am a First MATRIX fan.

I suppose this goes for any part 1 of a movie. The first one, introduced us to a new world of programmers who acquires the practice of Jujitsu through a downloadable program, the matrix itself is a diverse world and movie with Kung-Fu, stylish wear, and riddles you wrack your brain with.
In my humble opinion…no.
But do any of the sequels hold a candle to the first Matrix? Not really, but we love them because heck, it’s The Matrix.
I’ll be fair and say I truly did adore Matrix Resurrections because the special effects and the nostalgia of it all are top level interesting and eye-catching. It definitely scores high in that department, but I think to truly APPRECIATE this Matrix installment, you must remember how Neo’s life ended.
You also have to watch the movie again because there is no coincidence that with everything going on now, the art is imitating real life. The not so hidden messages are like a prophecy.
If this is okay with you, go for it. Watch the movie.
My overall score for the movie is a very high B+ borderline C.
Thank you for reading.
