You may have been shocked to learn that in the old days the French lost their heads on the guillotine, or that the Romans watched Christians being devoured by lions in their arenas.

Nowadays people don’t seem to be tortured as in the past, but appearances can be deceiving.

It all depends on one’s social position.

Those who can pay for their protection are more or less protected, but this is not always the case. Many try to rob or kidnap those who have money.

In fact, no one can really consider themselves protected in our world. Terrorism has not disappeared and injustice prevails.

Therefore, trying to live in a private paradise in a dangerous world like ours is a sad illusion.

The poor and the weak continue to be victims of countless atrocities, without anyone saving them.

Many people take advantage of the miserable in various ways. Sexual abuse, human trafficking, and numerous other horrors do not stop happening to those who have no protection at all.

The poor have no living conditions. They inevitably end up becoming beggars or thieves. When they are discovered after having stolen something from someone, they live in prisons.

There is no justice for them.

There is no justice for virtually anyone in this world, even if they can afford lawyers. If those who did something against them are billionaires, they will never end up paying for their crimes, as they will buy their freedom with ease.

In fact, many people cannot afford lawyers when they are wronged and must try to defend themselves, which means they have no chance of fighting professionals who know how to use the law to their advantage.

Lawyers do not care about defending justice but defending those who pay them to defend them from justice, even if they are criminals.

So don’t be fooled by appearances. If you think you live in a much better historical time than in the past, you are wrong.

Today, barbarity is camouflaged by indifference, hypocrisy, and the wiles of commerce.

Nobody cares about those who don’t have money. Everyone behaves as if the poor have no right to anything and only pay attention to what happens to those who belong to the middle class.

In this case, people seem to have a human side and try to help others. This happens because those who belong to the same social class fear someday being in the same position as those who are wronged in some way.

Nobody cares about the injustice that massacres the miserable. Everyone concludes that ‘they can’t do anything for them’ and that they have to mind their own business.

Everyone tries to be happy despite living in an unfair and cruel world where thousands of people suffer without the slightest hope of relief.

Many even condemn the poor saying that they are lazy people who do not want to work. However, how can illiterate, sick, and dirty people who have never learned anything in life find a job?

Not even those with a good education can find a job after trying countless times… The competition is so much that only those with powerful friends get a good placement.

This means that our historical time is as barbarous as the historical times of the past, although this is not visible.

So, don’t be naive. Today’s world is as dangerous and cruel as ever.

If you have any hope of seeing the world get better you have to start thinking about what you can do for the biggest victims of human indifference rather than agreeing with those who say they can’t do anything for the poor and the weak.

Otherwise, the world will always be characterized by countless barbarities and injustices, no matter how much everyone dreams of a better world.
