Is the Census Bureau Government at its Finest?

I hope not

I was living with my uncle in a trailer park. It was 2010, and time to fill out Census forms. We both filled out the forms and mailed them in, only to get a knock on the door months later.

The Census Bureau had not received the forms from any residents that lived in the trailer park. Ten years later, I’m married and living in South Carolina, and it’s Census time again.

I again do my Civic Duty

We receive the form in the mail and I fill it out, only to get another form weeks later with a stern letter. I end up filling out three forms before they leave us alone.

A few months ago, on a Saturday, we hear a knock, a Census Taker was at the door, “ We need more information from you.” My wife and I spent a good half-hour answering questions.

I again receive a form in the mail

The last straw for me, was when I get another Census form in the mail yesterday. It’s the same form I have filled out three times before, with the same questions the Census Taker asked me at my door.

I am beyond irritated with the whole thing, and I’m not filling out the form. They will have to come to my door again. I am being targeted, it seems that way anyway.

It’s not like I haven’t cooperated

I understand the need for a Census, I willingly fill out the forms, but enough is enough. My wife doesn’t want to answer the questions. I have to fight to get her to cooperate, and I’m tired of filling out forms and answering questions myself.

I hope the next time they come to my door, that it’s the last time. The Census Bureau needs to get its act together and leave folks alone.

Final Thought:

People want the Government to run things, but the Government can’t run a bath, much less a Census. I hope they get their act together and leave me alone for the next ten years.
