Is Technology Still the Future?

The future of our planet shouldn’t just rely on new tech

As a current college student, I see and use technology in one way or another every day. Even if you aren’t a student anymore, you still use technology every day to write or read your articles.

I grew up with my brain already wired to enforcing technology of some kind into my everyday lifestyle. If you think about it, all of us are hardwired to devices as soon as we are born. These devices are responsible for making sure that we can live and breathe normally, and without them, we may not have had a normally functioning life.

Sometimes tech is our greatest crutch as a nation, but I bow to you, technology.

Back in the day and age of my parents, people didn’t rely so heavily on the infamous computer, so were they better off than we are today?

It is typically agreed that “the positives of digital life will continue to outweigh the negatives. However, as in all great technological revolutions, digital life has and will continue to have a dark side.” The children of today spend hours on their phones watching Tik Toks or YouTube, and that is creating mass isolation between generations.

The digital advances companies, such as Apple, are creating continue to bring happiness and revolutionary changes to the environment, but a person’s well-being is negatively affected. According to a report study about the concerns of the future, “The massive and undeniable benefits of digital life — access to knowledge and culture — have been mostly realized. The harms have begun to come into view just over the past few years, and the trend line is moving consistently in a negative direction.”

If you think about the impact the media has had on current events today, you know that the media has created a much bigger cloud of emotion than a person would typically possess with their own knowledge. However, without the media and the internet, the spread of information would be at a snail’s pace and we wouldn’t know the latest events until DAYS later.

You win some and you lose some when it comes to new inventions such as digital devices, and it mainly depends on what you are using technology for that will determine your thoughts.

So, is our technology still really the future of mankind? It depends on your outlook on the future. Does your career rely on technology? If it does then, fo course, the future is still digital. Did technology take away your freedom and maybe even your career? If so, then your outlook on the future is stripped of all that is digital and you’re mainly concerned about keeping your career.

My personal opinion aligns heavily that the future is still digital but, with all great things there are still some downfalls and negative impacts that may come with computers and the future of the internet.
