Is Segregation In Schools Gone?

It does not appear so in some areas

Racism was not always this bad.

It has been worse at times.

Segregation in schools ended

decades ago when people protested

the inequity and injustice.

Schools are no longer segregated

or should not be by law,

but they might appear to be so.

Because of where people live

and economics and poverty

or wealth and privilege,

schools are largely segregated

although they do not consider

themselves that way.

Life continues to be racist,

inequitable and unjust.

That is an unfortunate fact of life.
