Is Medium Becoming Less Valuable?
I’ve been reading articles on why authors and readers are quitting Medium over the past few days. I used to believe it was my fault because I wasn’t writing and communicating with my audience because I was on break earlier due to health issues.
On the other hand, it doesn’t seem like there have been any more views or reads since I started posting frequently or interacting with my audience. Not only me, I have seen other well-known authors complain the lack of readers on Medium. When a writer puts in a lot of effort and publishes an article, he expects to gain views and reads, therefore when that doesn’t happen, it might be disappointing.
The writers who were earning $1,000 per month claim that in the past, Medium offered a beautiful possibility for financial success, but that things have since changed. To earn a four-figure income has grown to be quite difficult.
It’s challenging to boost our views and readers in light of this recent change on Medium. Many writers are exploring for alternatives since they are tired of Medium’s recent modifications.
Writing tales is, in my opinion, one of the main reasons people join Medium. I have heard from many writers that they particularly appreciate this community but have some reservations about how writers are paid. Not only that, but my follower count hasn’t grown this month either. My average monthly gain in followers is between 100 and 150, hence the fact that it was fewer than 50 this month puzzles me.
Additionally, compared to prior, I received relatively few notifications. When someone mentions me in an article, I am not notified. Therefore, kindly pardon me if I missed reading a piece of writing in which you acknowledged me. Please let me know if you experience a similar issue.
Writers are unaware of the direction this platform is taking? What are the high-quality Medium articles, exactly? We’re unsure of how to succeed in this situation. The uncertainty created by these recent developments is motivating writers to leave this site. My Reffered member statistics reveal that members come and go, as I recently verified. Few people remain loyal to the platform. My feed does not include the stories of all of my many followers. They look to have just vanished, to be honest. Stories from people and publications that I don’t follow are displayed in my main feed.
We don’t enjoy being kept in the dark about what’s really going on, thus I believe Medium should be more transparent about numbers and statistics, the requirements, and insights on how writers may better.
I just hope that Medium isn’t dying.
Should writers quit Medium?
No, we are unsure of what the future will bring. However, if your daily survival is entirely reliant on your writing income, I would strongly advise you to look for another platform. Don’t concentrate all of your time and energy on a single platform.
