Is It Possible to Live a Minimalist Life?
How abundance plays a part

Declutter your mind, your heart, your home. Let go of the heaviness that is weighing you down. Make your life simple, but significant. ― Maria Defillo
Many of us are in the process of becoming a minimalist. I am an abundant minimalist. It means that I find the balance between receiving and giving. On my 100-day journey studying overflow in the universe, I find that there is always more to discover.
As someone who loves minimalism, I have studied it and practised it for many years. However, I know I will never reach the level of extreme minimalism. I am more than okay with this realization.
I am a person who always loves to give. My love language is receiving gifts. It may seem strange that I love to receive, but I believe it is a trait we all have. The laws of the universe are all abundant. There is always more.
Even though I love to read about someone who has learned to live with one towel in their home, that will not be me.
Yes, there are days that I dream of living in a tiny home or a little cabin near a creek. Living out of a suitcase also seems like a dreamy option.
However, I am overjoyed daily by our split-level suburban home. It gives us all that we could need and more, every day.
There is a beautiful balance of giving and receiving on this Earth.
The more we offer to the world, the more we receive in return. I love to declutter and give things away, so, naturally, abundance will come my way.
I have a dear friend in Mexico who also loves minimalism. She loves to go through her things often and gives them away. She also remarked that the more she does that, the more comes her way.
Tomorrow there is a charity truck coming to pick up a donation at our home.
I suspect that abundance will soon surprise us with something in exchange for that.
Something that I tell my clients is that life is not static. Abundance and things are always flowing to us. We have the power to choose what feels best to keep and what we wish to give away.
There are times in our lives where we will feel more ready to give away certain things than others.
Once we retire, I will not feel the need to have some of my speciality cooking equipment like a lefse grill or a krumkake iron. Even though I only bring those out once a year, each one makes me happy.
If you find yourself moving towards a minimalist lifestyle, be patient with yourself.
Paying attention to how you feel in your environment will help you decide what lifestyle is best for you. You may be happy with one towel, or you may want ten. That choice is up to you.
In conclusion, any lifestyle is possible. You may choose a more pure form of minimalism, or you may choose a more moderate one. You decide what feels best to you.
My prayer and my intention for you today is for you to ponder what lifestyle you prefer. Do you want to work towards a very minimalist lifestyle, or do you like how you live now? Each choice is up to the individual.
Day #74: What kind of lifestyle do you prefer?
