What Do We Mean By Upgrading Your Conviction To Match Your Destiny?
This growth is not about “Success”. It’s about Character!

I never thought of writing as a career. I am not a psychology researcher or expert. I am not an influencer. All that I am is a girl who struggled, probably like most of you, with her self-worth.
I am a woman who felt miserable at some point in her life, had an existential crisis, and felt the urgent need to start a self-evolution and maybe… just maybe actualization adventure.
I loved it so much that it became natural for me to share what I think might help people who feel stuck as I used to feel, get them to become self-aware, and challenge their limiting beliefs both about themselves & the world.
Why do we want to grow?
Jealousy, envy, gossiping, complaining, blaming others & circumstances, self-pity, sarcasm, putting people down even through humor, being unable of apologizing while we are fully aware we screwed up and hurt a beloved person, judging & labeling, revenge, extolling hatred actions, violence & free cruelty, and the list goes on.
These are personality traits, symptoms, defects, or demons with which we are all familiar. According to several serious psychological studies, they were confirmed to be the outcomes of fear, shame, feeling insecure about who we are, and being confused about our emotional boundaries.
It is draining to dive in life with this numerous list of constructs. It is a too heavy burden, I know! Appealingly, all that you are desperately trying to do is to protect yourself from others and life’s adversity through building those various “shields”.
Do you feel tempted to discover what may add some clarity to this mystery of being disconnected from your inner-world; this same disconnection making you spend your days in survival mode?
I couldn’t help but ask myself the same philosophical question, being overwhelmed by my fear — the fear of not being able to handle the answer.
Could it be the difficulty of practicing Self-awareness, this beautiful and unique human endowment giving us the possibility to think about the very process of our thoughts?
You are aware of the space between stimulus and response, you’re aware of your genetic, biological inheritance, your upbringing, and of the environmental forces around you. Unlike animals, you can make wise choices regarding these things. You sense you are or can become the creative force of your own life. This is your most fundamental decision. ~ Stephen Covey
Or maybe because your ego hates hardship and prefers getting instant gratifications, setting your minds to ignore the risk, and then to numb the long-term pain?
A simple example illustrating this tendency is when you want to lose some weight to feel lighter, stronger, and healthier. You know you have to stop eating junk food and get your a** to the gym.
Instead, you prefer instantly enjoying the taste of your burger or pastry, and laying comfortably on your sofa while watching TV shows.
Is is straightforward to break your old patterns?
I would lie to you if I told you it was easy to break my old bad habit of functioning in an auto-pilot mode. Like any habit, you’ve been doing it effortlessly and you would need to find a “why” worth the transformation. The secret is that it should be bigger than yourself!
Let me tell you the truth: it will scare the shit out of you to discover your unhealthy coping mechanisms and trauma outcomes. I experienced it, I doubted it frequently, I almost gave up I can’t even recall how many times. Even thinking about it while writing those lines moves me to tears.
Therefore, if you are transforming and thinking you are going crazy, know that you’re not and that your ego is resisting fiercely. That’s all that it knows, sadly enough.
Remember: you are not alone and that adversity is meant to make you who it is possible for you to be if you pit in the effort. All that you need to do is to remember why you’re doing it in the first place.
It takes tons of bravery to bear with the pain of committing to destroying your limiting beliefs about yourself & the world gradually. And guess what? This pain is guaranteeing probably the hugest payback of our life: Becoming a servant leader and a creator in the Universe.
We are human beings, not human doings!
The trigger for writing this article and sharing my thoughts with you was an insightful quote I read yesterday.
“Don’t downgrade your dream just to fit your reality. Upgrade your conviction to match your destiny.” - Stuart Scot
What I believe is that this has everything to do with growing as a person. It has to do with becoming self-aware. It has to do with being courageous enough to deal with the accompanying pain.
It has to do with becoming real and starting to live wholeheartedly as one of my favorite authors known as Brené Brown likes to call it. It has to do with centering your life on the Universal Principles.
To give you a quick example of what it means to be principle-based versus any other biased Center, let’s suppose I have a kid who accidentally killed a person when driving drunk.
Because my children are my Center, I would do all that it takes to protect my kid. I would bribe a criminal to take responsibility for the incident. If my Center was the Principles, then I would have been the one to accompany my child to the police station.
Your center is the basis for your love manifestation. If your center is your children, then the love that manifests from that will mostly benefit your children. If your center is the ‘Principles’, then the manifestation of your love will benefit the whole Universe.
Last thoughts
Upgrading your conviction to match your destiny has absolutely nothing to do with reaching global notoriety through celebrating ones’ demons, by manipulating codependent and insecure people.
It has nothing to do with being a mediocre person and doing great things. It has nothing to do with compromising with integrity. It has nothing to do with all this BS, no matter how ‘amazingly awesome’ our ‘targeted achievements’ might seem to be.
You can easily get trapped in your old patterns. With the help of self-awareness and practicing the right strategies, you considerably expand the gap between the stimulus and your response and develop your emotional intelligence. You need this skill in an interdependent reality.
We are no different. We all have the same needs, and the best way to give back to the world would probably be by getting people to feel less offended and more loved.
