Is hiking a way of life?
And why you should try it for yourself.

There are multiple challenges to prove something is worthwhile:
- Walk 10k steps a day for 30 days
- Wake up at 5 a.m.
- Track your mode for 30 days.
- Go to Bed before 10.p.m
and my all time favorite. Take Cold showers in the morning for 30 days
Don’t get me wrong. I love cold. I mean I first hate it, but over the last couple of year things changed. After we bought a Wooden Hot Tube, and placed it right next to the swimming pond I build myself.

Since then, cold water has become my friend and believe me, it’s better than a cold shower. Especially when the first snow falls, and the water is actually warmer than the air. You should try it out!
Getting back to today’s focus Topic.
Most of the challenges over the Internet require you to be consistent for a certain amount of time. Usually 30 days (No idea why, maybe there is some science behind it) sometimes for 14 days (or maybe not) and so on.
In most cases the challenges are supposed to create a good habit, but often the challengers themselfs give up, and quit after the magic limit of XX days is due.
My take on the challenges is simple:
If something does not work right away then quit or adjust it to yourself.
If I would like to try out all the 30-day challenges out there, death would meet me sooner. So instead of forcing on something that doesn’t resonate with you makes no sense.
I once tried to start my day with a Tea. I think on day 3, per default I made myself some coffee. It’s just exactly what my body needs in the morning, so why change it?
There are however challenges that do not require you to be consistent 30 days in a row.
Sometimes just a one day experiment may change your life forever.
Why not go for a Hike? 1 Day. 1 Mountain Peak.

It’s a complete change in the way you think about building good habits.
- It’s Free
- It takes just 1 day
- It’s releasing dopamine.
- It’s a Workout
- It’s clearing your thoughts (by gaining perspective)
- It’s good for you blood pressure and lungs
- It might be Addictive
So before you start another 30-day habit routine. Get your backpack, and hike towards the nearest Summit. It will be more beneficial than you think.
All the Best and hit the Trail!
