Is Ethics Like Fast Food?

Some empty calories

How? How do you erase a person from the picture of your life? Do you tear off the painting into two pieces? Do you throw the half in the corner? Do you forget about the crumpled ball of paper? How can you tear into parts of someone’s existence? People are not tiny scratches on white paper. They are not notes on the fridge. The heart does not have a switcher.

How? How are the things different from now on? Yesterday wasn’t too far away. Yesterday we were friends.

Today, I am no one. A paper ball in the corner of your room. An erased image of the past.

How? How people become distant, hide in their small universe, and cut the root of a friendship they claimed was real. I don’t know how.

I can figure it out, indeed. But I would have to admit that it wasn’t a friendship.

It was a relationship in which one took advantage of the other. People are not disposable tissues. You cannot use them and then throw them in the dusty bin.

Feelings are not banana peels— to consume them and throw them, like garbage.

And there isn’t even a single word for goodbye, but ignorance and silence, as if I have never existed.

Say clearly that it is all over.

But, no. You pretend that nothing special has happened.

Ethics is not a weakness.

But nowadays it is like a fast food. Consume and escape.

It is the same with people — take advantage and go away.

What would stop you?

Friendships were not until yesterday.

Otherwise, they were something fake.

Like fast food that fills the stomach with empty calories.

Thank you for reading.
