Iowa GOP Leaders Divided On Support
Republican elected officials have endorsed different candidates
Trump got an endorsement from an Attorney General.
The Republican Primary for President of the United States is an ongoing battle. Some have dropped out, and Trump continues to lead in the polls. The candidates are now looking toward Iowa.
America’s First-in-the-Nation Iowa Caucus is around the corner! The Iowa Caucus will take place on January 15, 2024 at 7PM at individual precinct locations in all 99 counties of Iowa.
A story for The Washington Examiner by Reese Gorman had the title: “Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird champions Trump record as caucuses near.”
Iowa Republican Attorney General Brenna Bird is one of former President Donald Trump’s highest-ranking endorsements in the Hawkeye State, and she believes he is the only, and the best, candidate who can beat President Joe Biden.
Contrary to the state’s Republican governor, Kim Reynolds, who endorsed Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) for president, Bird made the decision that Trump was the best man for the job and endorsed the onetime president.
Bird is in her first term as attorney general. She won election by beating the incumbent who had served for nearly 40 years in that role.
This attorney general obviously thinks Trump is the best candidate for the Republicans.
It is surprising that so many lawyers who are supposed to be abiding by the laws are supporting Trump, who has multiple indictments against him. They must think he is innocent of wrongdoing.
Bird thinks Trump has a good track record and is someone who will respect and uphold the Constitution. There are many who do not believe that is the case.
Although the Republican governor of Iowa has endorsed Ron DeSantis, the attorney general is for Trump.
