Investing My Blogging Income To Make Extra Bank

This is the method I am using to increase my earnings with stocks

Why have I decided to do this?

I was going to leave the money in the bank for a year, and then at the end of the year, use that money for a family treat. We are planning on going to Hong Kong Disney in the spring of next year and I thought how nice it would be if we could go with an extra couple of thousand dollars. Upgrade the hotel, not worry about if the kids want ridiculously overpriced silly hats, and so on.

So why just leave it in the bank? This occurred to me while writing the post below! Why not make a bit of extra on the side?

Using eToro (this is my affiliate/friend Link for Etoro) which is probably one of the easiest brokers out there and has all kinds of instruments available.

In the past. I haven’t used eToro much only to play around with high-risk trades because I can choose the leverage.

For this reason, the account is actually at a minus over the past 2 years. I used it for trading with small amounts of money on leverage with some pretty risky positions.

However, this year I’ve decided to use the platform for growing a separate no-leverage stock portfolio from my blogging earnings. The reason I can do this is that eToro allows their clients to invest or trade in part stocks. Unlike my main investment account, I don’t have to pay the full stock amount. This means I can buy $10 of a $200 stock.

The Rules

The rules are simple.

No leverage

The biggest blue-chip companies

No earnings announcements in the following six weeks

Beta below 1.0

Support level or close to support level

I want to make more interest than the bank will give me. I am not trying to gain a huge profit. This is why I am only investing in the biggest thirty companies.

Yes, I am aware at certain times and under the correct circumstances you can make a lot of money with these shares, but as they are less volatile than smaller stocks the growth will be steadier over the year.

My first investment in this account

Due to my rules on this investment account. Tonight or tomorrow, depending on your time zone, I am going to buy $250 worth of Microsoft(MSFT). There are a few reasons for this.

According to 28 analysts, MSFT is a strong buy.

Also, the dividend payments are due on the 14th of March which although not a huge amount at 0.74% I believe, it will drive the price of the stock a little higher.

MSFT has fallen from a previous high recently in a pullback, so it is currently at a cheaper price.

Note: I am not a financial professional and this is not investment advice, but my opinion. I am not responsible for any losses if you decide to follow this opinion. Never trade or invest without first doing your own research.

Reinvesting profits

At some point, I am going to have to pull out of a stock for whatever reason. That could be because it isn’t doing so well or starts to reverse after making gains.

I will reinvest from these stocks using the same rules.

I am going to write a monthly blog on how things are going with this so Clap, Follow, and remember to Subscribe to get notified of when I post.
