Introverted But Willing To Discuss Books

A short story with a poem

Someone once looked at me strange when I told them that I love the way books smell. I didn’t feel awkward about it either. I actually looked at them strange in return. I wondered how they couldn’t agree. Hey, to each their own. It’s not like I go around smelling books for a living. If there was a such gig though, I’d sign up happily.

As much as I love reading online and having so much information available at my fingertips(thanks wifi), it is simply such a wonderful experience to have and to hold a physical book.

I mean really, I can’t possibly be the only one who enjoys grabbing and opening up a book, caressing its’ pages and flipping through them. Slowly. Afterward, drawing it in closely for a good slow sniff. Inhaling all that it has to offer. The scene in my head is slow motion… and I guess this sounds like a romance between a book and a human, right? Well denial never worked for me, so I suppose it is. When a book is open near me, love indeed is in the air.

I love old books, new books, short books, long Funny books, clever books, and books with songs

Give me knowledge, mystery and much great laughter Just don’t make me weep and cry too hard after

Take me away, deep into your world Tell me the things you’d like me to explore

I love kids books, silly books, joke books too Skinny books, fat books, how about you?

Hardcover, paperbacks, and magazines Having trouble finding a gift for your teens?

Stacked on the coffee table, they’re decor Tossed in my tote, I do adore

Snuggled up cozy in front of a fire Reading lifts my soul up higher

Notebooks, planners, sketchbooks — YES! Gratitude journals, they’re the best

Self-help workbooks are loved by many Cookbooks and large print puzzles for granny

Coloring pages, sudoku, and tic-tac-toe Brainteasers help with boredom woes

Productivity logbooks and trackers, let’s write Dream interpretation diaries For when you’re awakened at night

Fantasy, comics, historical, action Adventure, horror — what’s your satisfaction?

Super hero’s, let’s play imagination Or literary fiction, for deeper contemplation

Poetry books, they are my delight And I’m thankful for biographies that inspire and ignite

I miss the book club that I was in We had so much fun, we all became friends Sharing perspectives from an author’s pen Bonding over coffee — it was a win

I love old books, new books, short books, long Funny books, clever books, and books with songs Give me knowledge, mystery and much great laughter Just don’t make me weep and cry too hard after

Take me away, deep into your world Tell me the things you’d like me to explore
