The power of positive affirmations is often overlooked as something that seems too good to be true, or a practice that is a waste of time or doesn’t truly yield results. Through my personal experience, I have realized that by intentionally reciting positive words, thoughts, phrases, or feelings on a regular basis, I have begun to re-wire my subconscious mind in many ways.

I have learned how to respond rather than react. I have adapted my mindset to look at the glass half full. Most importantly, I have gotten in the habit of being more gentle with myself, taking all situations at face value, deepened my critical thinking skills, and improved my emotional regulatory tactics.

We All Affirm

Don’t consider positive affirmations as something fancy, or “woo woo” magic. We are constantly affirming things with our typical day-to-day thoughts. The fact is, the majority of our thoughts from yesterday will be recurring today, and before long, our thoughts will become a belief in a system that shapes how we respond to life.

By taking initiative to try to monitor and control your thoughts, you are helping yourself think happier thoughts which in turn will leave you feeling happier.

A Little Positivity Goes a Long Way 🙂

I try my best to recite or at the very least listen to positive, intentionally-worded groups of words that will benefit my mind and spirit at least once a day. Ideally, proponents of affirmations recommend listening/writing/reciting/whatever fits your lifestyle twice per day, specifically in the morning after waking and in the evening, moments before bed.

Exposure is Constant

Think of it like this. Do you ever read something on social media, hear a song, or get exposed to something early in the morning that sticks around in your thoughts for the rest of the day? I know I do. Just this morning, I was listening to a podcast about wasps, and now wasps keep crossing my mind just nonchalantly. I listened to it early enough in the morning shortly after waking, and it was interesting to me, so I remembered it.

When we only allow specific messages, words, and thoughts in our mind shortly after waking, our brain sucks these ideas in like a sponge.

If you’re interested in trying positive affirmations for yourself, try these on for size. They are specifically worded to align with the law of attraction. They focus on abundance rather than lack — about having something rather than being without something. This is ESSENTIAL.

Examples of Positive Affirmations You Can Start Using Today

Practice these affirmations in the morning soon after waking since your subconscious mind is more open to suggestion. Make it a part of every single day to begin each morning with a clear mindset and positive attitude. If you don’t have time in the morning, that’s okay, too! 😊
