Frugal Friday is a place where likeminded frugalists can share their tips and tricks. Do you have a version of the world where we are careful to use and repair and reuse items? Perhaps you have fabulous money-saving recipes and storage techniques.

I admit I started off with the intention of sharing an exciting new money or time-saving gem every Friday. Life, however, does get in the way of so many good intentions. This publication is now crying out for fresh blood.

Despite a couple of dozen contributor requests via Smedian and my adding them to Frugal Friday, I am yet to receive any contributions. Perhaps Dr Mehmet Yildiz’s publication promotion will resuscitate this poor lonely publication.

The possibilities for stories are endless, especially if you value time and money-saving advice. As a frugal person, pre-pandemic, I worked fewer but higher-paid hours so I had more time to write. Nowadays, my leisure time is my writing time!

So, how do I save money these days?

I make my own vegetable soup which gives me four days worth of lunch for about £2 in total. I save time because I buy ready chopped and frozen vegetables from supermarkets.

As you can see from the header image, I’m making my own kombucha. It is quite expensive to buy ready-made. I bought my scoby on Amazon from Kombucha Kamp recommended by Desiree Driesenaar and distributed by Kombuchaorganic in the UK.

How do you save money and time during a pandemic?

Anything that you do to save yourself expending energy and time has the potential to offer readers new ideas so they can spend their commodities (time and money) wisely.

I’m also keen on saving the planet from plastic and hetero-patriarchs who are destroying ecosystems with their greed. If you feel the same way please submit anything frugal we can do to join you in your quest.

Until all plastic containers are made from biodegradable materials we are stuck with plastic. I reuse all plastic pots instead of buying cheap Chinese plastic containers for my soup and leftovers.

Glass jars are also very handy for taking my porridge or overnight oats to the office.

The audience for these tips is everyone and anyone who gets a thrill out of doing the right thing for the planet by reusing existing plastic; likes to buy preloved or secondhand items and loves to save money to spend on important experiences and vital purchases.

Have I caught your attention? Here’s how to submit your story.

Here’s my favourite frugal story.

This story is one I wrote in my first prolific month on Medium!

This excellent piece is from Volo Vash, a talented and successful writer.

If you feel strongly about being frugal, I’d love to add you to the growing list of writers on Frugal Friday. I’d sincerely adore for you to share your frugal wisdom with ILLUMINATION and Medium readers.

I’m looking forward to Frugal Friday writers submitting their first pieces soon. This is a new start opportunity for the publication kindly extended by the founder of ILLUMINATION.

Will you help me bring this publication to life?
