Introducing The Community Building Movement

A publication for those who want to continue to be a part of a movement that uplifts writers and supports the community as a whole

After a certain large publication left Medium the other day, I felt a large void that needed to be filled. The previous publication I had been a part of had just vanished and the owner decided that the best course of action was to terminate the publication altogether after an unfortunate series of events that most of you know what happened by now.

I would’ve liked to have seen it at least get a resurrection and a new owner if the previous owner needed a break. We don’t always get what we want though. Oh, well, I’m all about moving forward in a positive and constructive way. So, I figured that I could take a step myself in forging forward a new path for that.

I started a publication called The Community Building Movement. We will accept all sorts of submissions for stories, including older self-published stories from other publications. The point of having this new publication in place is to try to reset a different yet similar movement that the other publication on Medium represented. Yes, a publication many times represents something that is bigger than the entity itself.

I went with a completely different name for this new publication and there is no mention of the previous one on this one because these are two different entities and movements. We are all going to feel a void from losing that large publication for a while. So, I feel like a new name and a slightly different feel will help us get there.

I figured that having something similar to take its place will be a large help to those who got used to having it around. I will accept all writers who want to come to write for the new publication. I’m also accepting editorial applications in my email at [email protected]. If you were an editor at the old publication, you will definitely have top priority to start out at the new one if you’d like.

There are only going to be a few requirements at the start.

• All submissions must have at least one other story from the publication linked to it at the end to promote other writers. We are trying to build a strong sense of community. (For the first couple of submissions, you can wait until more stories have come in to be published.)
• We will absolutely follow Medium’s rules and guidelines to the letter of what is and what isn’t acceptable content. I will not publish anything that is against our overall goal of community and acceptance.
• This one is optional, but feel free to tag as many writers in the publication in your story as you feel like. This will give everyone a sense of inclusion in your story and further strengthen the bond of the community.
• One of your tags must include “The CB Movement”, “Community”, or “Community Building”. It is recommended to have five tags to optimize your SEO but it is not required.

Let’s move forward and build an even stronger movement and community going with a fresh start. I hope that you’ll enjoy writing for the newest community-focused publication. I’m looking forward to seeing you all there.
