Introducing Mercury Press

Stories, articles, and poetry from new and established writers

With topics inspired by the Roman god Mercury, Mercury Press is a publication on Medium that is open to all writers, both new and established. Mercury oversaw many areas of life and Mercury Press focuses on six of those topics:

1. Communication: writing about good, bad, better, and methods of communicating.
2. Eloquence: fluent or persuasive stories, poetry, and articles.
3. Business: writing business, work, sales, and all of the things we do or want to do for a living.
4. Travel: writing about Places we’ve seen, want to see, or dreamed.
5. Messages/Short form: short form poems, articles, and stories between 100 and 200 words. Communicate a single thought, memory, or message.
6. Luck: This sixth focus page is inspired by the Mercury the trickster, and is the place for those stories, poems, and articles that don’t fit the other categories. Readers will be lucky and fortunate to find and read them here!

Writing for Mercury Press

Mercury Press welcomes writers to the publication; please follow these submission guidelines.

1. Agree to follow Medium’s Terms of Service and Rules. If you are new to medium please read them completely as not adhering to the rules means your writing won’t be accepted in mercury Press.
2. Credit all images appropriately, crediting the source. If you made it yourself, credit yourself. See example above. All photos must have a credit in order for your submission to be published. Have at least a main photo on your submission, since it will show in the publication and draw attention to your writing.
3. Even though it’s in the Rules, I will state it here, too. Your writing must be YOUR writing. No spam, no recycled public domain stuff. Your writing only. If it was published by you on Vocal, yes- you can submit it here. If you published it yourself already on Vocal (not in another publication) you can submit it here. (Writers new to the MPP: you CAN submit self-published items here and monetize them, too.)
4. Use one of the six tags before you submit for publication: Communications, Eloquence, Luck, Business, Travel, Messages. This will add your writing not only to the front page but also to the appropriate feature page.
5. Topics not accepted for publication: Degrading or hardcore erotica (that isn’t the meaning of lucky, here), violent, cryptocurrency, adept-level computer programming, conspiracy-level political stuff, and anti-vax rhetoric. Any political articles reflect ONLY the viewpoint of the writer, and not all political articles will be accepted.
6. Submit no more than twice a day.
