Intoxication

I stare up at the silver moon in a disorientated daze
Fumes of yellow, purple and green alter the haze
I gaze across the metropolis as my mind runs free
Geometric patterns dance rhythmically before me
The streets below are lined with silent cars and naked trees
The sights and sounds of the city coalesce with the breeze
White crested waves rock the boats floating in the dock
The land rises in the distance as marsh slowly turns to rock
I inhale and get lost in a cloud of intoxicating smoke
Like a glutton, I drain the elixir until I choke
With bloodshot eyes, I’ve arisen as one of the undead
With the ailing of a vampire that needs to be fed
I have a fervent appetite for life that I cannot sate
I search the corners of my mind as it gets late
Another puff from a herb of devious intent
A ticket to paradise, available for rent
I feel warmth emanate from her skin
I lust like the devil as I resist a desire to sin
I transform into a wolf and howl at the moon
I turn up the bass and dance around the room
Thoughts of past and future are lost
Present reigns supreme, for a small cost
Slip into a world of fantasy and dream
It feels inviting, yet nothing is as it seems
