Into the Channeling Rabbit Hole
Mysterious entities try to communicate
I thought the practice of channeling — so popular in what used to be called the New Age movement — had gone out of style. I was wrong.
In case anyone is not aware, channeling is when a person claims to be transmitting information from a being who is not physically present. It’s not unusual for a channeler to request money in exchange for a message from beyond, but there is plenty of free content.
In its most entertaining form, an outside entity allegedly takes command of the channeler’s body. Channelers signal this event to the audience by twitching, waving their arms around, moving their heads, or possibly moaning. Then they begin talking with an odd accent or displaying ridiculous speaking tics.
Channeled communications of the new age variety often begin with a phrase like, “Dear Ones,” or “Greetings to our Earth Brethren.” Typical messages include sentences starting with the word, “know.” “Know that you are more than just your physical body.” There is also heavy use of the word “light.” “You are light workers living in bodies of light and spreading pure light throughout the cosmos.”
Like seeing a film that’s so bad it’s good, watching a channeling session can be entertaining for a little while. Recently I was delighted to find that channeling is still popular! We just don’t hear about it as much. A quick web search revealed dozens of entities from other planets, dimensions, and astral planes eager to talk to us.
A little background on channeling
As far I know, attempts to speak with spirits have occurred as long as humans have been around. However, the modern practice of channeling traces back to the spirit mediums and seances of the late 19th century. The famous Fox sisters delighted and terrified thousands of people with mysterious rapping noises in the dark, while other mediums produced an exotic white substance called ectoplasm.
In the 20th century, mediumship took on a new age flavor. Instead calling her channeled being a spirit, Jane Roberts — channeling in the 1960s and 70s — said her entity, Seth, was an “energy personality essence.” J.Z. Knight, who channeled Ramtha in the 1980s (and continues to do so today), said he was a Lemurian warrior from 35,000 years ago.
Channeling really took off and was especially hot in the 80s and 90s. The activity is more subdued today, but as I said, there’s still plenty of it to be found.

Okay, I made up the name in the title above. But my search came up with a host of these talkative channeled beings with interesting names. Many reminded me of characters in old Superman comics. There are entities called Kyron, Galexis, Mafu, Adironnda, Dzar, Adamus, Osairah, P’taah, Ashtar, and Vywamus.
Then there are those with religious or native American origins: Archangel Michael, Archangel Gabriel, Chief Joseph, and White Eagle.
My personal favorites are the channeled councils, ambassadors, and collectives:
There are many mysteries surrounding these beings. For example, the ninth dimension is mentioned frequently, but why does no one talk about the 11th? Why is Pleiades so popular in channeling circles?
In the reality-based world, the Pleiades is a cluster of seven stars about 440 light years from us. They are visible to the naked eye, and most U.S. pronunciation guides say it like this: PLEE-a-deez.
This cool-sounding name, plus the fact that it’s a pretty, sparkly sight in the night sky may explain why so many latter-day new agers have jumped all over it.
What do our Pleiadian friends have to say?
Let’s take a step down into the rabbit hole and focus on the Pleiadians and their communications. You might expect a civilization from across the galaxy to have messages that are highly advanced, penetrating, and insightful. See for yourself. Here are examples from an old issue of The Pleiadian Times newsletter and one from a Sacred Ascension site:
- “…we remind you once again that everything is a dance of energy, a swirling sea of subatomic particles.”
I feel the need to interject that we humans have known about subatomic particles for a century. Is this still fresh news for the Pleiadians?
- “Our students have proved to themselves that when they focus their energy and work as a group … they are able to bend spoons and forks.”
Again, the magician’s trick of bending cutlery has been known for quite a while on earth, but the Pleiadians are impressed with it. Wait till they see someone pull a rabbit from a hat!
- “At times you are lost, and at times you are sure of your mission here on this beautiful planet, and that is okay dearly beloved children…”
Believe it or not, the above tidbit is typical of the wisdom of the Pleiades High Council. They can talk for pages and pages and it’s all watered-down cliches.
Since the message quality is a little disappointing, let’s focus on who the Pleiadians are, and what their lives are like.
Daily life for a Pleiadian super-being
According to one site, Pleiadians live on a planet called Erra.
- “The people of Erra communicate through telepathy. There [sic] means of travel around the planet is done by a tube system … The average age of a Pleiadian is 700 years. Their skin is whiter and smoother than ours…”
Another site explains more about what these beings look like.
- “3rd Dimensional Pleiadians: Two arms, two legs, body, head; the Pleiadian ears are somewhat lower than yours … 9th Dimensional (light body) Pleiadians: We don’t display ourselves [to humans] before you’re ready because … it shatters your sense of reality…”
To sum up, they are really old, they travel in tubes, they’re whiteys, and looking at them breaks your reality.
Are there other aliens out there who want to talk?
Yes! If you’re already bored with the Pleiadians, there are many others eager to have a word with us. Arcturians (5th dimensional beings), Sirians (“like an evolved dolphin”), Orions (human-shaped warriors), Cassiopaeans (6th density consciousness), Zetans (gray, big head, almond-shaped eyes), and many more.
I’ll provide a quick spoiler alert. None of these creatures from the stars have much of anything to say. There are no messages that you or I couldn’t have come up with on our own, and curiously, they don’t have even one tidbit of knowledge, insight, technology, or even a good prediction that might demonstrate that they’re more advanced than humans.
Let’s take one last step down into this rabbit hole. A representative from a species of feline-humans called Lyrans tells us this:
- “On September 17th, 2014 … Reptilians attacked Earth with a negativity ray. It brought fatigue to those in Ascension … It caused much damage to productivity on Earth.”
Those damned reptilians and their rays! I felt so negative and unproductive that day and I’m sure you did, too. Never forget what they did to us.
In and out of the rabbit hole
I need to crawl back up to reality now. No more ultra dimensions, ascensions, and spirit beings for a while. But I’ll leave you with a few links to videos that lead deep into the channeling world.
