As a technologist with four decades of experience, I feel obliged to simplify Internet of Things (IoT) and make it known to more people. IoT is critical in our lives and will be more and more important in the future. IoT is fundamental building blocks of artificial intelligence. Some of us are already using IoT devices at home and at work.

Even though this article is technical and aims to provide an overview to technology leaders and entrepreneurs, I attempt to make it as simple as possible for my readers to understand the concept, mechanism, and its parts.

My goal is to introduce IoT (Internet of Things) ecosystem based on a model that I developed as part of my solution architecture engagements in multiple successful projects in large business organizations.

I used the metaphor of an ecosystem as the IoT looks like a biological system with many dependencies.

In this article, I set the IoT solution context at a high level.
