Abstract

René Junge shares his and his wife's experience with intermittent fasting over several months, including breaks from fasting. They've discovered that fasting is less demanding than anticipated, with the body adapting well to the regimen. Junge emphasizes that the energy usually spent on digestion is saved during fasting periods, which can be surprising. He has documented his initial experience with fasting in a separate article titled "My Interval Fasting Adventure," where he discusses overcoming his aversion to diets and new year resolutions to try intermittent fasting. The article on Medium provides a narrative of his first five days of fasting.

Intermittent Fasting Is Not As Hard As You Think

You won’t starve to death by fasting for sixteen hours a day. But you’ll find out how much energy your digestion normally costs you.

It’s been a few months now since my wife and I started intermittent fasting. Since then, we have taken a few breaks in which we have eaten normally and later fasted again for a few weeks.

At the moment, we take a week’s break from fasting, but we are not afraid to start again next week.

We have found that fasting means less sacrifice than we thought before.

But how is interval fasting for a beginner? I documented my first five days of fasting and wrote an article about it. Read now My Interval Fasting Adventure.
