Carrizo National Monument is a grassland in California. In Spring, the meadows and hills are splashed by wildflowers, namely California goldfield. I had the opportunity to visit it once.

We don’t have cherry blooms in South California, but the Callery Pear creates quite a show with its abundant blossoms. The flowers have a fishy smell due to the methylamines in them. But I love to gaze at the flowers. It’s almost like snowfall as the petals teased by a winter breeze float in the air, carpeting the ground. This picture was taken in Balboa Park in San Diego.

Below is a vermillion flycatcher. It's very similar to the common phoebe bird but stands out for its vibrant red plumage. I spotted this bird atop a cottonwood tree in San Joaquin marsh and wildlife sanctuary.

“Take only memories, leave only footprints,” goes a famous quote. Yes, that should be our way of living. It’s unfortunate that, in the name of development, we are destroying the planet. I believe it's never too late to adopt a more eco-friendly lifestyle.

Below is a picture taken in an apple orchard in California. In a world where food is still scarce, nutritious foods like apples rotting on the ground are unfortunate. Much of the world is about a supply-demand mismatch. If only the fruits could be fed to the needy.
