Integration: The Last Stage of Spiritual Awakenings No One Talks About
I thought the hardest part of a my spiritual awakening was over.
Turns out, it’s not.
If you’ve been through an intense spiritual awakening, you’ve probably experienced more than one of the following:
Daily questioning of your sanity.
The death of your ego and personality.
Nightly wake-ups at 3am on the dot and sensing presences in the room.
A mental hospital on speed dial.
Questioning everything you’ve ever been taught.
States of psychosis.
Extreme pangs of euphoria/God’s love.
The amplification of your intuitive gifts.
Consciously feeling energy everywhere and anywhere.
Psychic attacks from ego.
Extreme desire for isolation.
The loss of your old egoic false self.
Feeling separated from your body to spend all your time in spirit world.
I could go on and on, but those are the basics.
The truth is, these experiences are traumas in and of itself, especially if they came out of nowhere. So spiritual awakenings become cycles of unlearning and healing, and there’s really no end in sight. You spend months upon years upon YEARS going through this rollercoaster ride wondering when you’ll ever be “normal” again.
And then, after doing massive inner work over and over and over again, the light at the end of the tunnel starts to shine through. You start to think, “Maybe I’ll become a normal person again.”
That brings up the question- what is normal?
The 7 + years I spent working on my higher self and healing my soul…
OR
The human world- where turns out — I DO have a body and a brain.
I say it this way because when we’re experiencing a spiritual awakening, we’re doing our internal soul work. Many people isolate so they can cultivate their relationship with Source. And usually healing work is a solo effort- as we our sole responsible for our healing.
Life can never be the same as it was before the awakening. So what’s next?
You can either sell all your items, move to the middle of the desert, cut off all family and friends, become celibate, and serve Source as a shaman and spiritual teacher the rest of your life. Spending your days in hours of mediation, cultivating humility, and starving the ego.
OR
You can somehow start to integrate back into a regular human existence.
And usually, it’s the second one.
But there’s no manual on integrating back.
This is why it can be the most difficult stage of spiritual awakening. How are you going to attempt to be a normal person after spending so much time in the infinite universe?
Integration really means bringing two fragmented entities into unity. That’s essentially what healing is- becoming whole just as God/Source has intended.
So ultimately healing is really figuring out a way you and your ego can co-exist harmoniously. How you can be the infinite soul that you are combined with the very real human being you were born into Earth as. And for you two to coexist in great harmony.
I think most people’s biggest fear is the forgetting we seem to do when we go back. It’s the forgetting that got us here in the first place. Our spiritual awakenings are simply just remembering who we truly are.
The secret sauce is, as it always is, is balance.
We can be connected to our soul, AND have a witty personality.
We can have fun and be playful, AND be empathetic to the suffering of the world.
We can meditate, AND fly off the handle later that day.
We wouldn’t be in a human body if we weren’t supposed to live as a human.
As much as we can feel our starseed alien soulful selves, we can equally feel our raw humanity.
It’s time.
And not that there’s anything wrong with the isolated desert life, but we were put here to wake up and then implement our unlearnings, fully in the human experience.
I know it’s hard to be here, trust me I know. But you ARE here. You have permission to integrate and live a life whole and complete.
This is the last healing stage of the awakening. What’s beyond this hurdle, is your wildest dreams.
