Instead of Hitting Delete on Your Shitty Draft, Just Sleep on It
Writing advice that no one asked for

Last night, I faced a new type of writer’s block. I hadn’t surpassed all the Level-1 hurdles, as new territory was yet to be explored.
I gave up on a piece two-thirds way.
Maybe my wanting to watch the Euphoria finale or awkward posture had something to do with it. I felt exhaustively unable to type.
I craved hitting delete and starting fresh tomorrow.
I abhorred the piece and didn’t want to feel stuck again. But, it didn’t make sense to lose 600 words. Instead, I closed all my windows abruptly and hit full pause.
Rereading it this morning got my juices flowing, and I started working with it. Time to do that magical thing called editing.
Or start with a short form.
