Inspirations: 101 Uplifting Stories For Daily Happiness
BOOK REVIEW

Inspirations is an anthology full of short stories written by female authors.
At the beginning of the book, it suggests glancing at the Table of Contents and seeing which stories grab your attention. I enjoyed doing that and selected 10 stories I wanted to start with.
With so many stories to choose from., there is something for everyone in this book. I highly recommend it.

I selected 4 of the stories to write about. The first, “Little Red Corolla” caught my attention because I had a car like this in my life.
LITTLE RED COROLLA shows how life is filled with moments where we must decide to fix something, have someone else fix it, or deal with it as is. Like the Little Red Corolla, we can remember a time when we in hindsight ask ourselves why didn’t we do it sooner. Instead of ignoring or just dealing with something as is, taking it on and making it better. Tackling a challenge may be hard, but worth the feeling of accomplishment, confidence it ensues, and the pleasure of enjoying the result.
BIG GIRL PANTIES drew me in with its title. Was it a story about potty training? Nope… It was a story about strength. With a surprise diagnosis and immediate surgery one doesn’t always have time to be prepared. Many people get lost in anxiety and sadness, but this woman showed her family through example how to both stay strong and to be prepared for the worst.
FRIENDS FOR 40 YEARS was one of my favorite stories in the book. I am the same age as the individuals in the story. Right away, I was back in high school walking to the tables with her. I related to both characters though as I have always followed the pack trying to fit in, but struggled to make friends like the male character. When I read the title, I had assumed a different kind of friendship. What started with curiousity, became a lifetime of commitment and a daily reminder of a different way of looking at life.
LEARNING TO FLY was hard for me to relate to. Traumatized by an incident in college which led her on a darker path, but for some reason not doing everything she could to keep the one person in her life on a regular basis that made her feel good.
