Inside the Secret Chests of Your Mind
You have a dream made of money, likes, and love.

You are the center of your universe, and everything revolves around you. At least you think it does. But yes, you don’t say it publicly. Some things are better left unsaid. Some things are kept hidden inside the secret compartments of your mind.
No matter how you represent yourself or appear before others, you know who you are and what truths you hold deep inside your mind. Some of them are good for you, while others can ruin your life unless you deal with them well.
Anyway, in this post, you will get to know what is inside the secret chests of your mind. Maybe you know them already but never realized how powerful they turn out to be if treated with less care and attention.
Let’s dive into it.
You Are a Slave of External Beauty
You’re sexy, and you know it (but others don’t). No matter how you look, you are always your best-looking hero or heroine. You are never bored to see yourself in the mirror. You may say to your friends that you are fat and not so attractive. But deep inside your heart, you know that you are beautiful and lovely. Sometimes, you wonder why your beauty hardly gets the appreciation it deserves.
When you look yourself in the mirror every morning, you scrutinize your look. And you think about how you can get a more attractive look. Maybe your hair needs a different treatment, or a pimple is ruining the beauty of your face. But it’s okay, you are looking beautiful when you smile, and the mirror smiles you back. You are a bit narcissistic about yourself. Anyway, you don’t care.
You want other people to acknowledge that you are beautiful. And when someone says that you have silky hair or a shiny smile, you feel awesome. You take millions of selfies, filter them and then post online to show the world how sexy and attractive you are.
As you consider yourself attractive, you want an attractive partner as well. Maybe you are an anti-racist person in general. But when you chose a partner, you become the racist of all. If you are a woman, you want a tall, shiny, handsome man with money. And if you are a man, you prefer a blonde, white angel with blue eyes.
Deep inside your mind, you are a lover of external beauty. The beauty of mind or character comes last in your list or never comes at all.
Your Smartphone Is Your New Spouse
You are not alone anymore as your smartphone is your constant companion. This small rectangular device is the love of your life. It controls you and everything you do.
It decides what you choose, buy, spend, and, therefore, how you live your life. It has become an extended organ of your body you cannot live without. You love it more than anything or anyone else. You can live without your parents, husband, wife, kids — but no, you cannot spend a single day without your phone. It’s impossible.
It has become a status symbol and a part of your personality. You want the best one available in the market. Though this device sucks all the attention from you and makes you like a zombie, you don’t care.
Your smartphone addiction creates numerous physical and mental problems too. It alters your behavior and separates you from the real world. It limits your capacity to experience face-to-face human interaction, keeping you in a bubble. But you cannot ignore your phone for a moment. You feel suffocated when the phone is not with you.
You can happily sacrifice everything, even your spouse, to spend more time scrolling this shiny screen. And you feel no shame in that.
You Have a Dream Made of Money, Likes, and Love
After food and sex, money and fame have become your third basic need. Each of your dreams is somehow related to money and fame. You want to earn millions and influence people all around the world. You want to become a household name.
As you dream of making millions and influencing others, you sacrifice your present and work hard, ignoring your health, friends, and family. And everything you do in the name of creating value, helping others, offering fee services — deep inside, you know you are doing it for your publicity. You know that in the long run, it will benefit you financially.
You are sold this dream of making money and being famous since your childhood days. And without questioning it, you have accepted this dream and now pursuing it with or without joy. Now, you don’t get excited about things that have no connection with money or fame.
Even the people you follow have only money and they lack a well-balanced life. Success, to them and you, means only earning money or having influence over others. And to achieve them, you can go to any extent.
You Want to Achieve Everything Now
In the secret compartments of your mind, a word floats everywhere; now, now, now, now. You can’t wait for anything or anyone. You want everything as quickly as possible. All the best things in life you want them now or never. You are addicted to a high-paced lifestyle and can’t stand anything slow and steady.
You want to earn millions before your reach thirty. You want to be the cover story of the renowned magazine right now. Your desire to be an influencer cannot take any slow approach as well. You want to establish yourself as a brand within the shortest possible time. If you are a writer, you want to join the best-selling parade from your very first book. If you are an actor, you want the oscar now. If you sing, you want your songs to be on the top chart.
But you don’t get everything now, no matter how sincerely you want. Sometimes, you are left with no choice but to accept this reality. But deep inside your mind, you always wish to get everything in the quickest possible time.
You are an impatient person with an incredibly restless mind. In your world, everything moves lightning fast.
You Despise Everyone Smarter Than You
Of course, you show that you admire smart people and feel amazed seeing their intelligence. But in your secret chest of mind, there is nothing but hatred and jealousy for them. You know that you despise people smarter than you.
You don’t like your friends who would get good grades than you. You hate your colleagues who get promotions frequently because of their talent. As you think you are an attractive person, you consider yourself the smarter one as well. And when anyone shows better intelligence than you, you feel threatened.
On the contrary, you love those who are less smart than you because they give you a superior feeling. You feel happy when people ask advice from you, and you guide them in their ways.
This feeling of superiority is extremely addictive. Your happiness becomes dependent on others. Thus you become codependent and want others to treat you as their icon or guide.
You Don’t Care About This Planet
You have already lost your connection with the natural world. You know that you don’t care about this planet and, therefore, pollute it knowingly.
This age of social media tells you to filter your selfies but not your behavior. Because of you, the greenhouse gasses emit, sea-level rises, plastic kills the environment and wildlife — but you feel reluctant to do anything about it. The secret chests of your mind are flooding with selfishness.
Yes, you show your care for the environment only when some disasters take place, and you need to do some fancy PR.
You talk about the environment when it is trendy. You know, as a human being, you need to care for the natural world for your own existence. But deep down, you don’t feel the urge to do it only because it has no monetary value.
So, you, like many, pollute the environment by overusing plastics, riding fancy cars and jets, and consuming more than necessary.
Final Thoughts
Your secret compartments of mind can be darker than what I described above. Don’t worry. It’s not just you. We all are somewhat selfish and self-centered.
But if we become aware of what resides in our secret chests and work hard to change our perspectives, we can become the better version of ourselves. We can do the following to change our life positively.
- Appreciate the inner beauties, virtues, good habits, empathy, etc.
- Limit your smartphone use and reestablish your connection with the real world.
- Be inspired by the intelligent people around you and try to be an insanely smart person.
- When everything goes too fast, take a moment to pause and evaluate your actions.
- Speak for the natural world and do not pollute the environment.
Being selfish is instinctive and easy. But we look more beautiful when we come out of our selfishness and live life harmoniously with others.
Be aware of what is in the secret chests of your mind and rebuild yourself with positivity, peace, and happiness.
Have a wonderful life!
