Insanely Short but Meaningful Article #15
As a Writer, I Had A Revelation That Resulted In A Name Change
I absolutely adore my fans and subscribers on this platform. This wonderful community of readers and writers here on Medium always makes me feel at home. It’s a place where I’ve enjoyed delivering my craft. Writing. I love it. I used to write poetry as a kid growing up!
When I started on Medium back in March 2023, I decided on the name “Income Insider”, because quite frankly, I love talking about finance and saving you money. I love showing my readers how to live on less. Within your means, basically. We are an overspending, credit infatuated society!
But today, I had a bit of a revelation…
I usually just randomly browse YouTube and listen to all the “get rich quick pitches”, and I laugh. Always somebody on there trying to make a buck through affiliate marketing, getting you to subscribe to their channel, or telling you how to get rich doing something they have likely never tried. In a way, it’s utterly hilarious! They beat around the bush. Evading truth.
So, I happened upon a video this morning after doing a little search on how to make money on Medium. Why not?! What are they telling writers on there? Then, one soul began speaking about making $1000/mo. writing articles using the method that HE used to get there. It was stupidly simple!
- Find what it is that you could sit and talk about all day. Matter of fact, what is something that you love so much you could teach a small class?
- Create a catchy (non-clickbait) Title for your article that would attract readers. Ex: How I Reversed my Diabetes by Making 5 Small Changes.
- Deliver value in your article. It doesn’t need to be lengthy at all. A 4 or 5 minute read, but what it definitely needs is to deliver value to readers! As in them thinking, “Wow! I never knew that! I’m SO glad I found this!”
- Crank out AT LEAST 1 article per day. You don’t have to be a “writing monster”, you just need to write good stuff, and do it routinely!
HERE’S A CHEAT!>>> You can write in “batches”. If you are on a roll one day, and you think you could crank out 3 small articles, do it! You just saved yourself two additional days! Save those extra two as drafts. Publish 1 a day.
5. Search Google by typing in your topic of choice, along with things like “Little known”, “Amazing new”, “That you’ve never heard of”, etc. and watch how many “nice examples” of very intriguing reads populate! Now, don’t go and copy them! You’re more intelligent than that! Emulate them!
Now, here’s what has happened to me. My revelation, if you will.
As many of you may know who subscribe to get my reads, I write about this, that, and the other. Any topic and heck I was game! Conquering the world — one random topic at a time (looking toward the sky, dreamy-eyed).
NOT!!!!
Watching that video this morning made me realize something within me. I was in the medical and healthcare field for over 25 years — yet, I had been writing about finance, budgeting, heart-warming stories, investing, my past growing up, etc. etc. etc. Everything BUT what I know best. Health.
It was the most soul-rocking awakening ever as I sat there on the sofa, finishing my breakfast. And the name, Income Insider. It just somehow didn’t fit with what I NEEDED to be writing about! And that is medicine, healthcare, and living life to the fullest by treating our bodies like we love them! What could I get totally engrossed in? What do I know enough about that I could honestly “teach it”? The topics of Health, and all things Medical.
So, my friends, my fans, my supporters, my followers, and my believers… Say goodbye to “Income Insider”. You won’t see that name anymore. Same photo of the intriguing gentleman sitting in the dark, though. And say, “Hello” to “Mind Morphine”.
As Mr. Mind Morphine (real name Steve), I will be bringing my readers a sense of mental calmness and relief (much like the drug Morphine would) about topics that often have them deeply concerned and worried. I will help you understand complex medical topics by breaking them down so that lay people can understand medical terminology. Like a drug, I will help ease your mind, hopefully calm your worries, and relieve some of the depression that comes with chronic illnesses. I will bring value to my readers by helping them heal, teaching them things they may have never known, and alerting them to new advances in medicine that I learn about!
Love ya’ll! Thanks for your support. You mean the world. You are the whole reason I write…
