Ink Unveiled: Whimsical Responses to 10 Curious Queries About My Writing

Probing the Prose

Me as imagined by Midjourney.

1. Do you follow a routine every day for writing on Medium?

No, I’m a navigator of the platform. I read daily and write when inspiration strikes.

2. Do you choose a title before or after writing a story?

After my stories have danced their final words on the page, I weave my titles into existence.

3. How long do you spend thinking of a title?

Long enough to dance from the story’s heart into the forefront.

4. Do you choose your main photo before or after writing?

I summon most of my story images with the Midjourney, a magical tool that generates artificially intelligent pictures using the words from my articles.

5. If you’re writing a story about yourself, do you try to choose an image that looks like you?

I’ve only authored a single story about myself and crafted an image of my literary persona using Midjourney.

6. How many drafts do you write for your story?

I usually write and write. Pause. Title my story. Edit. Create my images. Publish. Find small nits. Edit. Re-publish. Release.

7. Do you ever start a story with something in mind, and it turns into something different?

No.

8. Did you ever get an idea for a story because of a comment you wrote to someone?

Yes! Elizabeth Emerald commented on one of my stories. I replied to her, and then my last story was born!

9. How long have you been writing on Medium?

For two exhilarating months, I’ve been weaving stories under the vibrant alias of Scarlet Ibis James.

10. If you could change or add one thing to Medium, what would it be?

As Henery X would say, I wish all of us writers on Medium would willingly give what we hope to receive: claps, highlights, and interaction.
