Inhibitors to Writing

Things that keep us from blogging

Blogging is powerful, healthy and yet time consuming activity right?

Blogging is powerful, healthy and yet time consuming activity right? This is what you have been thinking all the time, and let me tell you that you are not alone. I among many other bloggers have been in the same benches before — unless one day it made us think that we need to act __ and that was to start writing__ even if it looks bad, it will encourage you to write first and improve it our time.

Do not wait, just start writing and keep writing. You can build the momentum slowly.

Writing is like any other skill, it improves with practice and there is no other way to practice writing, except start writing and keep it that way.

I believe, blogging is powerful and healthy activity __ you may not agree, but let me tell you why I think so?

We are mostly unaware about the value of blogging. How much it could improve your writing skills, change your perspective about things by getting valuable feedback from peers/readers and not realising the fact that it may give you more critical dimensions to ponder about.

I think it greatly helps as you are kind of sitting on both of sides of the fence, when you write it, you read it and correct it.

I think in this way, because when you start doing it, you will get use to it and eventually you will have better skills developed (in writing) to speak out your mind. Eventually, it improves your writing style and gives you the capability to write your thoughts in a more structured, organised and readable format.

That doesn’t come overnight, it is a slow and steady process. So, you definitely have to invest time in it to reap the benefits of blogging, rest assured that it will never come overnight!, yes, I really mean that. Needless to mention, besides the above-mentioned facts, it increases your outreach and helps in ideas sharing.

Writing: when you start doing it, you will get use to it and eventually you will have better skills developed (in writing) to speak out your mind. Eventually, it improves your writing style and gives you the capability to write your thoughts in a more structured, organised and readable format.

There are many people like me, who have skills to write, and they are good in giving shape to words but they don’t make it. I was just wondering about it and came with a few things that keep us away from getting our words being read by others. Those are basically, thoughts or assumption including the following:

  • Lack of Time: The thought that I don’t have time
  • Lack of clarity on what to write: Not being clear what to write about
  • Difficult to manage day in and day out priorities: Not being good in managing our schedule or priorities
  • What would I offer as Unique to my writing: The underlying assumption that there are so many people who have written about so many things, and there are so many people who do it regularly. It would not make any difference if I write it or not. Believe me it does, as long as you stick to adding value and contributing to knowledge by sharing your experience, and expertise.
  • Fear that I might be writing a very basic stuff, while others have gone way forward about it already.
  • I’ll write it when I have More/spare/concentrated / energized time
  • Procrastination: Postponing it until tomorrow, which never comes.
  • Not knowing the value of blogging. How much it could improve my writing skills, change my perspective about things by getting valuable feedback from peers/readers and not realizing the fact that it may give me more critical dimensions to ponder about., which I might have missed in first place. I think it greatly helps as you are kind of sitting on both of sides of the fence, when you write it, you read it and correct it.

Some of them are just lame excuses and some others are the things that we unknowingly neglect or forget about.

Do not wait, just start writing and keep writing. You can build the momentum slowly.
