Ingredient Showcase — Salicylic Acid
Why Is It Effective In The Fight Against Acne?

Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA) that is widely used in skincare products, especially those targeting acne.
Here’s how it combats breakouts:
Exfoliation
Salicylic acid is oil-soluble, which means it can penetrate into the pores. It works by exfoliating the skin, effectively removing dead skin cells, dirt, and excess oil that can clog pores and lead to acne.
Unclogging Pores
By penetrating into the pores, salicylic acid helps to loosen and remove the buildup of oil and dead skin cells. This helps to unclog pores and prevent the formation of whiteheads and blackheads.
Anti-inflammatory Properties
Salicylic acid has anti-inflammatory properties, which can help reduce redness and swelling associated with acne lesions. By calming the skin, it can also help to decrease the appearance of pimples.
Regulating Skin Cell Shedding
It assists in regulating the shedding of skin cells, preventing pores from becoming blocked and reducing the likelihood of new acne forming.
When used in proper concentrations and formulations, salicylic acid can be an effective acne treatment.
But always remember to use it as directed since overuse or using products with higher concentrations than necessary can lead to dryness, irritation, or peeling of the skin.
