Incomplete Destruction

A poem dedicated to those who incompletely destroy me.

In the cool mist rolling over

The warm raging river,

My thoughts of you

Swirl and lick the surface.

.

I step on the elevator

And doors shut everyone out,

My heavy heart silently sobs

Thoughts of you weigh me down.

.

As the coffee brews

Catapults memories into my chest,

My gaze fixed on a blue jay outside

And my thoughts drift to your eyes.

.

In the quiet seconds of life

My thoughts of you,

Pull me under the waves

And twist me in the riptide.

.

When I slip into the space

Between wake and sleep,

My thoughts are consumed

By your last words.

.

Desperate for chaos to find me

I chase permanent distraction,

I beg for the torture to end

My thoughts of you, to end.

.

Self-destruction is welcome

After your blow to my heart,

Only tattered crimson shreds left

But my thoughts of you remain whole.

.

My own imagination

Is my worst enemy,

But now, my nemesis

Is the thought of you.

.

Please, grab my thoughts

And shatter them too?

My thoughts of you

Float strong and wild.

.

Find me again

And take my thoughts of you,

Take them when you go

So my silence may be silent.
