As I sit here, drinking my tea before bed tonight, I am reflecting on the new year and what I wish I would have known in my first year being full-time in my business. Being your own boss is a wonderful gift, but a stressful one. Especially when the dreaded “slow season” is upon us.

One thing I wish I would have learned and implemented sooner was to have more than one income stream before I quit my 9–5. But this is just my opinion.

As a creative entrepreneur, you will learn that there is a slow season and if you aren’t prepared for the slow season, it can truly be a make-or-break situation financially if you aren’t prepared for it. Now I know as a new entrepreneur the thought of having more than one income stream could make you a bit anxious because of it being one more thing to manage. Rest assured, none of my recommendations today are making you re-create the wheel by any means.
