Summary

Paper Poetry is launching a "Weekly Poetry Prompt" initiative, starting with the theme of 'Home' for January 15–21, 2022, with specific submission guidelines including word count and the inclusion of one image.

Abstract

Paper Poetry is introducing the Weekly Poetry Prompt as a new endeavor for 2022 to invigorate both existing and new writers. This weekly challenge will feature a new theme each week, beginning with 'Home' for the period of January 15–21. Submissions must adhere to a ten to twenty-five word limit, excluding title, subtitle, and other elements, and should include one relevant image. The poems must be tagged with 'W1 Prompt' and 'Home' and can include a handwritten or illustrated component related to the concept of home. The next prompt will be announced on January 22, with details on the subsequent theme and pattern to be revealed.

Hello everyone,

Happy New year.

After the first two weeks resting period (not a literary meaning, though), Paper Poetry is ready to start 2022 with new vigor and energy. Hence, we are excited to launch our new initiative, Paper Poetry Weekly Prompt, for all contributing writers and prospective new writers.

Each week, one of our editors will announce the prompt for the upcoming seven days; and you can submit your poem based on the theme.

However, each week, we will have a different prompt, but not in a similar structure. So the prompt I will be announcing will be different from what Carolyn or Indubala will come up with.

Prompt details

So, what’s this week’s prompt! Here it goes:

Type: One-word theme, with word limits.

Theme: ‘Home’

Word limit: Minimum ten words, maximum 25 words (excluding the image courtesy, kicker, title & subtitle). No additional notes, no inclusions to be added after the poem.

Title/subtitle: The title and subtitle are up to you; however have to be relatable with the theme.

Tags: Please include the following tags, ‘W1 Prompt’, ‘Home,’ while submitting.

Image use limit: 1 image only.

Submission period: January 15–21.

Please make sure to follow the submission guidelines. Add a handwritten part (it can be the part of the poem, the calligraphed headline, or a quote related to home) or a drawing of your depiction of home.

The next announcement will be on January 22.

By whom, on what pattern, in which theme!!! Stay tuned!
