In Twilight

I Kiss A Star…

Starlight, star bright, First star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might Have this wish I wish tonight. — Anonymous

It was the magic in your eyes that set sail across the skies.

You were as bright as a star by just being who you are.

And I didn’t have to travel far, because your light is up to par.

It was made for the old and wise, who’ve made music in love’s rise.

The feeling fell and it was right, from the day until the night.

Coming out of a daunting shell, Just to seek and soon, be well.

Just to have a story to tell and to ring the morning bell.

And remember such a sight, that is casted in blue and white.

Just to wonder upon the art, it’s been hear from the start.

Now I beckon for your call, and I heed an unfailing fall.

As I fall and fear a wall, I fear the concrete and the crawl.

I fear the pain of a love struck heart that’s bittersweet yet good and tart.

Though your love feels kind and true and in the sky, I may know you.

I may know your gaze and shine, if you know the smile that’s mine.

If you can see or cross the line of what is real or to combine.

For if you saw me, what would I do? I would dance until I knew.

I would dance and kiss a star and see my lips upon the bar,

The beam of light that draws me in, and has a beauty I can pin.

I can pin and feel within, That fatal moment; burning sin.

This fatal sin that burns for war, and that I take into my car.

And see what’s streaming while I keep dreaming.

While I keep seeing this star that’s freeing.

That keeps me being a soul that’s fleeing.

A soul that’s beaming for a love that’s reaming.

That as I gaze upon the vast, twilight sky, I sit in wonder, ponder why you swayed my eye.

To take flight in twilight.

And see height and feel might.

That I might question or ponder, maybe try to learn the messages of the heavens, and why.

I wrote this while pondering the sky, as usual. It is a bit of a love story for a star, and I personify it as if the star is a person gazing back at me. Sometimes I believe the superstition that stars are souls of those we lost. Maybe the star is an ancestor gazing down at me, letting me know they’re okay and guiding me. Maybe a being I don’t know. I don’t know. The sky is wondrous so it could be a bit of both.

Maybe one of you can comment on what some spiritual reasons are behind stars. I’d love to know. But thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy!
