Summary

The website content is a reflective piece exploring the emotional and imaginative journey inspired by a painting and the power of art to evoke deep feelings and introspection, in response to a July prompt for 'Life.'

Abstract

The article titled "In The Wilderness" delves into the emotional landscape that art can evoke, specifically through a painting by Ali. It opens with a quote from Sigmund Freud on the unspoken wishes of the human psyche. The author describes a vivid journey through a forest, rich with color and nature's elements, symbolizing the depth and complexity of emotions. The narrative takes a turn when the author wakes up from what seems to be a dream, finding themselves back in the mundane reality of their living room, juxtaposing the wildness of the dream with the starkness of everyday life. The piece concludes with the author acknowledging the emotional power of art, thanking various individuals for their contributions to a platform that fosters such creative expression, and sharing a personal moment of joy related to their adenium plant.

In The Wilderness

In Response to July Prompt for ‘Life’

Painting by Ali

“Every one has wishes which he would not like to tell to others, which he does not want to admit even to himself.” ― Sigmund Freud, Dream Psychology: Psychoanalysis for Beginners

She carries the forest in her eyes, The setting sun shares its hues, Dipped in the ocean of blue, She donates her vision, some obscured. Some true.

Strokes of yellow, orange and teal, Paint the world with its Forgotten zeal, They grow roots in the Brown of earth, Stretching the thoughts To reach a berth, Upon the sky where hope floats Where the gust verses they quote,

It calls me near, and I move — The lure of unknown hold my fort, I tread the path, the greens greet, In its depth I lose my feet, Rustle of the fallen, brown and brittle, Making melody, crushed, they tickle, Whistle of the wild in wilderness blow, Demonic faces lark, wolves come in toe,

I am lost…..I lose my way, Anxiety gripping, fixed to earth I stay, Cream of the sky, make entry in grace, Torches me to the end of the race, I try ‘n run, the path untraced Motionless, tangled in the maze,

And I bump on a gush of colour collage, A fuzzy voice tells me its a mirage……..

I wake up startled, Sight lands on my TV screen — My adenium* outside looks at me keen, Shiny beads clumsy, spread on forehead thick, Sweaty palm grab the remote quick, My bowl of Ramen needs a reheat, Channels always play news on repeat,

The last time I checked it was Donetsk screaming, Now tell me one thing —

Was I dreaming?!
