Poetry
In the Wilderness
A poem about listening at night
I would miss the hum of your reality shows turned low
on your phone while you take your makeup off, wash your face,
and brush your teeth as I finish my low back exercises
on top of the covers and listen to the water (soft, loud, soft)
like a hidden woodland stream.
This is the last of my poems written in April 2022 to celebrate National Poetry Writing Month, a challenge to write a poem every day for the month as an extension of National Poetry Month (envisioned some years back by the Academy of American Poets).
I managed to finish 24 poems in 30 days which is pretty cool if you ask me! I’ve compiled all of the poems in this list. I appreciate the time that readers have been spending with my poems this month. Thank you!
