In the middle of a steamy argument Between me and a piece of my heart My darling daughter Turning 14 this week When annoyance took over me As she rolled her eyes displeased At that very moment I was struck by a wave of nostalgia A similar situation it was A couple of decades ago Feelings all the same Characters just a little different My late mom and I Her thought brought tears With a slight sigh of relief Maybe I didn’t do that bad after all I could feel all three women And the intensities of their affection
