In Solitude’s Embrace

Silence is both a curse and a blessing

An inner world — Photo by Greg Rakozy on Unsplash

Within the inner world, somewhere behind our eyes, there is agitation. I am not alone in having constantly shifting thoughts compete for my attention. Meditation seems to bring all of these thoughts forward in stereophonic chaos.

Trying to tame the thoughts only leads to tangents to those thoughts. It is only with first going into the body that the mind can be stilled — at least for a few moments of peace.

in solitude’s embrace I often dwell contemplating a life devoid of sound listening to quietness where thoughts dwell unfettered

alone images of creations of what may be arise in the stillness imagination roams a blank canvas beneath darkened skies the source of inspiration

in the silence a lethargy waits in the shadows shadows of anxiety where the weight of solitude wears and tears

yearning for solace in another’s gaze to find relief from internal strife with hopes love will light the darkness

yet there I find fear of drowning in another’s arms love is not a cure
