We still do not know one thousandth of one percent of what nature has revealed to us.

Albert Einstein

I Reveal so Much Here, Including how I Got the Name, Un.

I don’t fancy writing about myself, but I like to avoid misinterpretations in life. I prefer it when everything is clear. Then it is easier to make up a mind or a direction.

Many things are sadly not evident in life, and there is no clear path to follow. Even if there was one, who is to decide it is the right one for everyone?

I have taken my path. Some of it is forced by being broke, some are chosen, and some are just side effects of others.

I guess my life didn’t turn out as I wanted when I grew up, but I am rather happy at the current stage. I have survived this far, and boy, I had a few tough calls on the way, but I never picked up the call and went down with it.

I am stubborn, yes I admit that, and I think I am the most stubborn man I have met in life. Although my grandpa was also a stubborn nut, I see myself worse than him at this point in life.

Well, enough about that, I start to tell you ABOUT ME.

Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.

Fred Rogers

The Girl Just Wanted to Play and Turned to Me

One morning, I just melted on the spot a few years ago when a girl reached out to me and wanted to play with me.

She smiles like a Thai, trying to be friendly to an older man. Then, she looked at me and said Un.

Everyone looked at us.

That was her second word in her whole life. She was almost two years.

I just got named by the daughter of the guesthouse where I stayed.

We played both before and after that baptism ceremony. We are still friends, of course, and I visit her now and then. She is a little angel, one of the few honest people here in Paradise.

Many more ladies, ladyboys, want to play with me or let us be frank with my money, of course. But I sit in the bar and zip on a Chang, the local beer. They have realized now that the aged man is stubborn and a waste of time to try to fool.

It is excellent to achieve that level of age. I can promise you that!

But boy, the trip here did cost me.

Single for a reason — Photo by Standret | Freepik

Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.

William Jennings Bryan

I Am Single by Both a Choice and A Reason

Of course, I am not a likable person as I am not just giving away when asked. But, yes, Women or people generally love to get all they want without being questioned.

I am very economical and have had that since my working days always to control my budget, and on top, I am skimpy. So I wouldn’t say I like to spend on unnecessary things.

I spend on accommodation. So many of my hours per day awake I spend in front of the laptop at home. But also all my sleeping time I spend in the bed at home. So if it costs a fraction more to have it enjoyable, be it.

Then food but for me, it is a small cost as I am small in eating. But I like a good BBQ and excellent sauces, etc. So here I spend what is required.

On the other hand, clothes are not a priority, and I no longer buy new ones. It was different when I worked, and at that time, I always had a suit, tie, nice shoes.

Time has changed!

Oh, the last one is obvious. So beers, I buy what is needed, of course. And I love to pay a few for friends and sometimes strangers to get the talking started.

I almost forgot I might be skimpy, but I also remember my hard times. So when I see poor people and disabled people, yes, I have been at both those stages in life. Then I always give some little money.

During Covid, the guest house owner and I bought food and gave it to the poor around the area. Around 150 portions each time. If I recall right, we made it 12 times.

When required by my heart and brain, I am not skimpy!

For me, life is about being positive and hopeful, choosing to be joyful, choosing to be encouraging, choosing to be empowering.

Billy Porter

My Working Days Has Been Joyful but Like a Roller Coaster

I couldn’t always do what was funny sometimes. I had to do jobs to survive. So I know that part of life as well, and I think it has helped me a lot.

There are always benefits with everything in life.

Maybe not for the moment, but after a while, the experience grew, and you learned things on the way. Isn’t that the meaning of life?

I started in my early days to deliver the morning newspaper to people when they were still sleeping. Little money, but small cash is better than no money.

I did my time in the army and university.

I got a role as a developer. It turned into the Head of the department role in a few years.

I thought that grass was greener on the other side, so I turned into freelancing and started to struggle. I was too quick here, but I am stubborn, so it started to go well after a few years.

Then mum got sick, and it wasn’t the same eagerness anymore. So I went bankrupt, But of course, mum didn’t get any better because of that. So I looked at a job in another town as a developer.

I started, and whoosh, then it went very well. My ability from freelancing was very appreciated, and I made some good money a while.

After a few years, I changed jobs based on personal beliefs and ended up at Ericsson. I did one big project but quit after it and went back to my freelancing.

Now not so successful, and I was low esteem and low on money, but I survived. So my aim was set too high this time.

One day an agent sent me an email and asked if I wanted a job in Africa, only three months but loads of money. At least for someone that didn’t have any.

I accepted and packed my suitcase. Of course, one suitcase for three months was mission impossible at that time, but I managed.

I worked from 2006–2021 as an expatriate with my life in one suitcase — both in Ericsson and Nokia. I always worked as Head of projects.

Life has made some twisting at me for sure.

Life is like a roller coaster. Sometimes it goes slower and up, then it turns and goes very fast down. Some rolls, and then it ends.

Mine still didn’t reach that end, but we all will end up there when we don’t know.

To Round It up A Bit for This Time at Least

Now you have a brief view of me as a person and a few stages in my life. A lot happened during my traveling thru 50+ countries on four continents.

I want you to know as much as possible, but that is just mission impossible in this short introduction.

I am an atheist myself,

But I have met people from so many religions, and we respect each other’s life choices. So it must work like that.

Yes, I had a few beers with all the different religions, even Muslims, though it isn’t official. But still enjoyable. I never discuss politics and religion. Both are doomed to an unhealthy relationship if beliefs are not shared.

I aim to mix my life lessons with the historical stages of my work and make them like stories. Some of them you might not like, just not read them, but some you will enjoy then you read.

I don’t need to advise on how to do it and when that is your choice alone!

The small girl that named me, of course, said Mummy in Thai as her first one. But Daddy was one week after my name. She is still a lovely girl, and she is now six years old.

Now everyone calls me Un, that is my name!

So keep well out there and live your life to the utmost every day!
