Summarize

In response to Alexander Pushkin’s “I loved you…”

I wrote an original poem in response to famous Russian poet Alexander Pushkin’s poem called “I loved you”.

First I would like to introduce Pushkin’s “I loved you”

“I loved you, and I probably still do. And for a while the feeling may remain. But let my love no longer trouble you, I do not wish to cause you any pain. I loved you; and the hopelessness I knew, The jealousy, the shyness- though in vain- Made up a love so tender and so true As may God grant you to be loved again.”

Here is my response:

I loved you too,

Through days and nights

That fire in my heart

Burnt me dust.

I am not thrilled,

Or sad or angry,

Your silence killed

The spark inside me.

You said you were jealous,

You said you were hopeless,

I would kill for your attention

In the garden full of roses.

And now you are asking God

To find another to love me,

I could never let another

To touch me the way you touched me.

I loved you too,

Though my love was not enough,

I hope you also find another

To fill that empty spot in your heart.
