In Request of Love

With a life of her own She rumbles and roars As she throws herself to the shore. Though briny and often dark Her depths hold mysterious life and ancient secrets beyond any imaginings. She feeds on men Taking the life from their lungs Forever holding their souls next to her heart. She kisses the feet of the cliff Praying he will give way to her. He remains unmoved, cold, and unyielding. It rains. She asks again — a wind is her whimper. He wants her to beg. Her pride rises, her anger begins to surge. The howl of her pain chills those who hear; Her anger drags under those too near.
