In Pursuit of Excellence
The eternal battle in our minds

We all have it.
This undying thirst lies deep within us; stemming from our own very existence. Deep-rooted in our core. An endless hunger for achieving the best.
Like this endless pursuit that can never be satisfied, no matter how much we achieve and complete.
At times we bring it so close to the brink of consuming us, that the aftermath leaves us with not much choice but to succumb to the pressure and throw in the towel.
And I wonder, have we always been like this as humans? Or is this another marvelous man-made manifestation of our times?
I guess we will never know.
The one thing we know for certain is that it is there.
The drive to keep progressing; keep advancing. Because what else would be the point of having this desire? Why else would we have this burning flame gnawing at us from within?
Well, to be put to some use.
And for good measures.
It’s one of the driving factors in the evolution of our species. It’s what keeps us moving forward.
Sometimes I struggle to keep it in place. My mind wonders over a million things at once trying to grasp from somewhere that will give me the edge; the advantage I need to succeed in life.
The item that will make me better than yesterday. Make me better from the competition.
But it’s so easy to get consumed.
One day you feel content with your actions, your sense of purpose, your direction; you feel like you made the right choices.
And the next you feel like losing the earth under your feet. Things are changing so fast every day making me feel vulnerable. It feels as almost you need to keep up or else.
That’s a key characteristic of driven people. People who want to strive for success and be the best versions of themselves. Those who answer to a higher calling.
As such, there is this eternal battle going on in your mind trying to make sense of this crazy world and fit everything where they belong.
It’s almost like a game of whack-a-mole where you smack one head down only for two more to appear.
And it’s tough. I get it. Trying to work out everything can tear you down. It can make you doubt all of your core beliefs. It can shake you to your core.
But we are not the only ones. There were many before us and will be many after us.
So it’s going to be ok.
To the ones who keep struggling and are striving for perfection, to the misfits trying to find their place and purpose in life, to the people pushing every day a bit more than yesterday.
To everyone who is in the pursuit of excellence, I say this:
Keep pushing. Keep striving for a better future.
No matter what it is, put your head down and do the work.
Do the work today so you can thrive tomorrow.
Never lose sight of your purpose. Never lose focus on your goals.
At the end of the day, the only path is forward.
