In prison, I can’t be funny

It will not be appreciated, I assume.

I had to be careful. They didn’t know me.

Yet.

I was allowed to talk for an hour with someone, I met weeks ago.

Great.

I was happy to see each other again now we had time to talk.

Finally

I asked and listened not talking about my life.

Agreement

I wasn’t making fun or telling jokes but we smiled and laughed

Wonderful

I was careful this time not the next time

Authentic

We are okay in each other's company We both mean well

Genuine

We said goodbye with a cheer I promise I’ll be back

Connection

It will be Boxing Day, next time It will be a Blasting Visitors' Day, next time

Happy

I love my volunteer work Even more when I can be funny
