The waning moon and I

My gaze turns upward searches among dots of lights and patches of dark clouds I know you are up there somewhere, waiting

And then a dusty glow sleepily peeks out at me You are waning, expelled your majesty mere days ago yawning, in need of slumber

Midnight, indigo, violet, ivory your whimsical aura reaches down plucks me from my bed lays me upon your concave pillow and lulls us both to sleep
