In Her Shoes: Fashion Blogger, Poppy Butkis
Some street style icons are impossible to ignore. Some are just impossible. We took a moment with one who is decidedly both, Fashion Blogger, Poppy Butkis, who made serious waves during NYFW 2017 for her irreverent take on night guards for daytime and her infamous on-camera meltdown (of which she’s never spoken to anyone–until now). Here’s what blogging’s bad girl had to say*:
You were everywhere this NYFW! What’s your favorite part of fashion week?
*laughs* Was I? It’s honestly all such a blur — When you sit front row, it can be hard to see details! *laughs* No, but really, I just love the energy of the shows. I grew up putting on my own fashion shows in my family’s foyer, so it just feels great to get to see the designers’ takes on something I started so long ago.
You’re social calendar seems exhausting! What do you never leave the house without or without doing?
*laughs* You’re so cute. I know my life looks super glamorous and fun, and it is, but it can be really tiring! Some days I barely the full 8.5 hours of sleep that mum’s shaman recommended for me. Those super hard days I always workout in the AM (RGB and I actually have the same trainer. Ruth is a super sweet girl) and snack on dates in the PM. I’m really into dehydrated dessert fruits at the moment.

You’re known for your innovative street style. Where do you get your inspiration?
Recently, I’ve been loving the carefree style of Sweden’s current homeless community. Frayed tassels, mysterious stains, I could go on. I love how they can take any outfit and just make it look thrown on.
Any tips for the girl on the go who has to race from work to a cocktail party? Not that you work, but if you did?
*noticeably offended* First of all, I do work. That’s one of the biggest misconceptions about bloggers. But, it’s a grueling existence. I can’t just clock out at 5pm. I am
opening gifts
running to meetings
having clothes taken in literally 24 hours a day.
That being said, we are all juggling that #worklifebalance, but it’s all about maximizing your time.
My tips:
Have your glam team waiting in the car (suburban is fine, but sprinter van will have more space and outlets) outside work. That way they can get started on your look while you’re driven to the venue.
Have your team scout the step and repeat beforehand to slay your arrival!
Ok, we know your publicists asked us not to ask this, and we promised we wouldn’t, but we lied! Tell us about the infamous meltdown you had in your NYFW 2017 video (above).
*Poppy whispers with her assistant*
Have you ever gone to anger management?
My good girlfriend Lizzie [Grubman] actually gave me a few fabulous recommendations, not that it matters.
Do you think maybe you should finally switch from elliptical to treadmill? Who even brought up “anger management”?
A judge did. Just saying.
Are you fucking kidding me with this?

We heard you’re addicted to cookies! What’s your favorite?
You’ll be hearing from my dad’s lawyer. See you in court.
*While Poppy is a super sweet girl and we do consider her a close friend, she did refuse to speak to us directly. Consequently, all responses were relayed by her bestie/assistant, Katie Corwin.
