In H.S. I ran thru the BOYS gym while they showered
True story
(No photos with this one 😂)
I have previously promised to write this one for someone that commented on something I had written on medium awhile ago.
So here goes:
This is from my “Prompts” journal and the Prompt read:
“The most exciting thing I’ve ever done is _________.”
👇🏻
Something my best friend (Julie) and I did back in high school in the 70’s (in SoCal) when STREAKING was all the rage.
We (ok it was my idea 🙄😉) got the idea to run through the Boys gym as they were changing and showering after their class. We enlisted a few nice boys to help us complete this task. They knew us (and our shenanigan ways) and they said they’d guard the entrance and the exit doors to the locker/shower building for us. They were fully dressed. I believe they were Mormon. Hence the “Nice” boys comment.
(No one really recognized the two of us and I consider us to have been called “wallflowers” during High School.)
I kept a low profile most days on purpose. Let’s Just say I wasn’t a fan of school except for choir and office practice type classes.
A dear HS friend of mine recently told me his opinion about the “nice” girls that never did wild things. He told me THOSE are the ones to keep an eye on. 😂🙂😎
Anywho…
As our male accomplices held open the gym door entrance and exit my friend and I ran like Jack rabbits as fast as we could taking a very quick peek to the left of us towards the SCREAMING HS boys that were showering while having to look past those that were changing after having just showered.
And YES, BOYS CAN SCREAM 😊.
As we kept running we looked to our right and we could see the Male teachers/coaches glancing up at us with very SHOCKED expressions on their faces.
No, they weren’t screaming BUT the looks on their faces were worth the price of admission.
Julie and I then exited and thanked our accomplices and they asked if we wanted to run through again. One more time!
We both said a resounding “YES”!
So we ran through again!
This time the boys were almost done showering and changing yet they still SCREAMED!
The Gym teachers/coaches were still looking aghast and perplexed at our antics.
But No one tried to stop us and I’m thankful as who knows what the punishment might have been.
We had a total blast. I have not done anything like this since (thankfully!)
A few weeks after this event when I was walking to class I heard someone say “hey! There’s that girl that ran through the gym!”
Trust me I quickly skedaddled the heck outta there. They never caught me. Or Julie.
Yes, the good old days of High School.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the two Nice boys that assisted us that day and my friend Julie that was so brave and always up for an adventure and all of you that read this today.
I hope it brought you a laugh or a chuckle 🤭

(My photo of Julie and I and Frosty.)
Enjoy the day.
Have an adventure of your own and write about it.
