In Control Of It All
Fail to help
We ponder words we love Watch our life floating in their eyes Then listen to their tedious voices Mimicking our meaningless smiles
We play smart when we aren’t But they clap as they should For our names provide And our views could stop their rise
We look good all days We’re perfect in all the ways And be still even when they fail
We earn grace and love Cause we control it all We find hands, not love For we possess even their wits
Nobody thinks on their own Their brains rephrase our thoughts Their speeches anticipate our minds
All of them, eclipsed by our ideas They repeat them always So we smile anyway
In control of it all Our words tire some And our acts become obsolete So our lights turn dark
As our power’s transmitted to themselves Our limitations are theirs What we can’t see is invisible to themselves Nobody can tell why we suffer We are our deepest pains They respect us, become us Then fail to help us
