In a world where everyone can be anything, should we?

I love to write, always have, but am I a ‘writer?’ Just because I can write, should I? Nowadays, anyone can publish just about anything in a variety of ways, should we? One can argue that everyone has something to say, and someone else can argue that if we are all ‘special’ doesn’t that mean no one actually is ‘special?’

I have struggled for years to write even though it is a passion and I feel like I have much to say, but I never had, or rather made, the time. At some point I wondered if what I had to say mattered, had any value, would/could make a difference (to anyone). I wondered if anyone would be interested — even though people have frequently told me they enjoy my passionate rantings on various topics. I have wondered if there is anything ‘new’ to say, or any ‘new’ way of saying it — how could it be so if we have existed for however long and documented through songs, poems, movies, books, articles, etc. — what about the ever so feared accidental ‘plagiarism?’ And so, it is without further ado that I realize it is in the effort that matters. It is not in the prestige or recognition of being deemed ‘a great and worthy’ writer, but rather in the purpose, intention, and meaning of what, how, and why I write —for myself and those I hope to write for, as well as the journey past present and future.

In a world where anyone can do and be anything, I implore you to find meaning and purpose. I beg of you to figure out your WHY behind anything and everything you do, because that is what truly matters -intention matters. In this world, where being authentic is becoming a lost sacred treasure, I hope you find your light and choose to share it with the world. Remember, just because we ‘can’ do something, doesn’t mean we ‘should.’…

A mantra from Finger Lakes School of Massage in Ithaca NY, (sadly now closed)that I have tweaked slightly: “Everything I see hear feel say do think believe (taste smell) & choose… comes to conscious memory by desire” brings me hope in a future where we consciously choose the best of ourselves and one another. Become everything you ever hoped you could be ❤ just please do it for all the ‘best’ reasons and change the world! ❤
