My medium earnings proof
In December, I won $3.75; in February, I won $33.12; in May, I won $379.17.

Making money on the Medium is easy.
So easy that the "gurus" have to make it look difficult to sell you courses, formulas, and training.
Kylian Mbappé is the highest-paid footballer in the world: €50 million.
Can you imagine Mbappé asking for a month's pantry, stopping playing, and creating a course on how to be a successful player? Or create a youtube channel unraveling the algorithm to kick the ball?
Of course not. His time is valuable.
Maybe in the future, he'll teach how to play football by creating a school or coaching players when he doesn't get this performance. Many former players become coaches.
Why do you think medium gurus will give you the secret formula to earn thousands of dollars?
They do not know. If the "gurus" knew, they wouldn't say.
The proof of this is that from time to time, they invent a new product, a new formula, a new course…

What happened in 2020 and 2021? I wasted time and money buying courses from the "gurus" of the Medium. I wasted time figuring out how to make money on Medium and how the Medium algorithm works.
And I stopped writing for a while. ☹

You are still not convinced. Look at this screenshot below, taken from Medium Earnings Garden 1.6, and compare it to the previous chart.
The blue line represents the earnings per stories ratio.
This is revealing. For two years, earnings per story remained constant. By the time I wrote more, it had gone from 0.3 per story to ~2.8 per story and still growing.
When writing this article, the number of hours readed it varies daily, but I've been earning ~$10 a day, which will make me over $300 this month.
It feels like I've gone from the club that makes pennies a day to the club that makes tens of dollars daily.
I confess that I was confused and restless because I didn't know how this graph would behave in the future. But if I have to spend a year earning $300.00 a month and then making $3000.00, great.
I didn't believe the conclusions I came to
Then I remembered that some "gurus" have youtube channels revealing their earnings.
To my surprise, one way or another, the same pattern happened.
They started earning tens, then hundreds, then thousands. And when that happened, they could write fewer articles, and the value remained the same.
Look on Youtube or Google images.
Of course, this doesn't happen to everyone, but I found some examples of the same behavior I have today.
Trying to guess the algorithm is a waste of time.
I work with software development. Many companies work with 2-week sprints, which means that there is some software change every two weeks. But some companies change daily. Even if you discover the algorithm's secret, it will change.
The "gurus" love that it changes because they will be able to create a new trap, that is, a new course.
Is it just writing more?
Well, there are other things I've been doing that have helped:
- I always try to submit to a publication. I created some publications of my own. If the article is rejected in one of them, I publish it on my own.
- I edit to make the text more readable with smaller paragraphs.
- I use a grammar checker, Grammarly (which didn't accept me as an affiliate, but I recommend it anyway). I have a paid account, and I also use it to avoid plagiarism.
- I developed a system that allows me to write more, improve my research, make it easier to find trends, and use AI. This system makes me write more in less time, but it would be possible to get the same results without it, but with more work.
Well… If you write more, you will earn more. Try it yourself.
